Ahlsell continues to accelerate its sustainability efforts and takes new crucial steps to reduce its climate footprint. Through innovation, strategic investments, and collaboration with customers and suppliers, Ahlsell strengthens its role as a leading player in the green transition.
In 2024, we have continued our efforts towards fulfilling the vision of building a more sustainable society. Ahlsell's science-based climate targets aligned with the 1.5-degree goal have been validated and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative, SBTi, which clearly sets the course towards net zero emissions.
- We have a clear ambition to reduce our climate footprint across the entire value chain and work with continuous improvements in areas that are significant for customers, owners, suppliers, and employees, says Christina Lindbäck, CSO Ahlsell AB.
Ahlsell has taken several initiatives during the year to reduce its environmental impact and increase resource efficiency. Among other things, the company has increased transparency around the climate impact of products by launching more third-party verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and broadened its range of sustainable products and services. Additionally, Ahlsell has expanded its circular solutions by testing new systems for reuse and recycling.
- Creating long-term circular business models and optimizing logistics is central to our strategy. With our extensive network of stores and efficient logistics flow, we can be a strong partner for both customers and suppliers in the transition to a more sustainable business, says Christina Lindbäck.
In 2024, Ahlsell has made significant investments in its logistics and supply chain. The expansion of the central warehouse in Hallsberg and the upgrade of logistics solutions in the Nordics have reduced transport emissions and streamlined distribution. By increasing the share of renewable fuels and electrifying the vehicle fleet, Ahlsell is working purposefully to achieve its goal of 100 percent renewable transportation by 2027.
Investments in employee development continue. During the year, we have continued to focus on training our employees with new learning methods to create curiosity around sustainable business solutions. These initiatives ensure that skills development and leadership are of the highest standard. Ahlsell has also been recognized for its work on mental health and has received awards for inclusive and sustainable enterprise in several Nordic countries.
- In a changing and in many ways challenging world, I am proud of how Ahlsell continues to create value. Together with our customers, owners, suppliers, and employees, we remain steadfast in our conviction of which direction is right. In 2024, we have continued to work purposefully to contribute to and seize the business opportunities that exist in the sustainable social transition, says Claes Seldeby, CEO and Group President Ahlsell AB.
